Dino nap mat! Grrrr :~D

I got an opportunity to enroll my 2 yr old into a mother’s day out program and they require him to have a nap mat. I got really excited to sew one instead of buy one! I let him pick out the fabric and of course he chose dinosaurs!  😀 Now I did buy the fold up kinder mat but sewed a quilted cover with extra batting to make it more comfy. I also made a matching blanket and used soft bamboo fabric for the underside to make it extra cozy… He loves it and so do I… There are a few imperfections but I think it turned out great! ❤ Thanks for looking! 🙂

Scrappy pincushion!

Do you find joy in the small things? I did today… I put on some gospel music and dug into a bag of scrap flannel… I designed and completed a quilted pincushion today. Well I worked on and off because I chase a happy active toddler around my house most of the day! 🙂  I decided this would be a gift. On the back is a message in Spanish. Te Amo means “I love you” and Suegra means “mother-in-law”.  She is coming for a visit this week and I hope she likes it. It was fun to see it all come together. After I sewed the outer pieces, I quickly made up a sachet of dry rice and improvised by wrapping it with batting then sewed it shut with a ribbon loop. It’s nowhere near perfect, but I sure like it! Thanks for looking! 🙂 ❤

Sunday fun…

Just picking back up on a previously started project. The McCalls clutch purse… Well I had to take out the pretty pink satin lining and put in regular cotton in a lovely color (green is one if my fav colors in all shades) 🙂 unfortunately the satin unraveled quickly. I will say I need a lot more practice with delicate fabrics… I added a split pocket! Oh and here is a glimpse out my window today 🙂

Food for thought: Isaiah 66:1 Heaven is His throne and the earth is His footstool… ❤️

First quilt started…

Well, I am very new to quilting, and I really like it!! I’ve learned a little from what my mom has shown me and there is still a lot I need to learn… I bought the material for my first quilt. It’s not very big in size 🙂  but I love the nautical theme! I am following the instructions on the card. We’ll see how it turns out when I finish. I started it back in March and it ended up on the back burner like most other projects… but I decided it will get finished one way or the other! 🙂 thanks for looking! 🙂

PS. I do need to get better lighting for my pictures and I’ll work on that too…

Kaftan top pattern

I started a McCalls kaftan style pattern. Fitting it to the form, still pinned and needs to be pressed, sewed and finished up…. 🙂

Above all…

A rose bush I planted, finally a single coral colored bloom… it reminds me of a song that I love and haven’t heard in a long time.

coralrose

Crucified and laid behind a stone; You lived to die rejected and alone- like a rose trampled on the ground; you took the fall and thought of me above all… Thank you, Jesus…

Box pouch with zipper

I sewed a simple box pouch for one of my nephews. It’s to hold toiletries during travel. I ran into a bit of trouble with my machine and thanks to a tip from my mom- turns out my thread tension needed to be tightened. Anyway, It’s kinda plain but I like it 🙂

Clutch purse pattern

I started a McCalls clutch pattern using upholstery fabric. I just really love the thickness of it along with the texture and colors. I love the bright pink color of the lining that I chose, although I’m not sure it will hold up during construction…

…to be continued. I will post pics when I finish it. Thanks for looking 🙂
